As seen on Angie’s List:
“The project turned out marvelously! Michael Polikoff is truly an artist as well as an accomplished architect, a rare combination indeed. His understanding of synergy with geometric shapes, space utilization, and intriguing design features is very impressive. His knowledge of botanical varieties, and their adaptability to various environments and locations is also enviable. Michael took my small, rectilinear back yard from a “ho-hum”, run-of the-mill tract home layout to a “WOW!”. It is an eye-popping botanical garden sanctuary, complete with a unique custom cedar pergola, saltille-tile extended patio, six-foot lion’s head with two-tiered water fountain, and flowering “focus” areas surrounding a central lawn feature. I couldn’t have been happier with the design and final product. I requested plenty of color in the landscape design, and he delivered in style. He was very helpful in selecting a contractor to implement the design. I would strongly recommend Michael Polikoff to any commercial or residential client looking for a talented landscape architect possessing insight, vision, breadth of knowledge, and a successful track record. He is highly responsive, punctual in appointments, and always “on-call” should need arise. For such a talented individual, his billing rates are very reasonable.”

Michael Polikoff has done several residential landscape design projects for me over the past 15 years, and has provided follow up consultation until just recently. His work, in every case, has been exceptional and proven to provide landscape plans that mature into really striking gardens!
Our first contact was regarding the redesign of our residence which included hardscape and plants. The result still draws positive comments from the new owners of the property, and our realtor who sold the property told us that the landscaping helped to sell the house for a record price.
The next project was more complicated and larger, and involved a multi-phased approach to developing an older property with over 25 mature trees to suit the new house we were building. Michael created a long-range master plan and skillfully advised on which trees should be saved. The final phase involved hardscape, plantings to compliment the existing older trees, and new lighting. The total investment was about $250,000, and the result is a truly great garden that continually receives compliments and a high level of interest from most people who see it.
I’ve been very impressed with Michael’s professional skills in the area of landscape design, and his ability to think outside the box to achieve really exceptional results.”

Dear Michael – The landscaping of my front yard is finished – and it is beautiful! Everyone worked so hard and did such a good job on it. However, it would not be so elegant without your plan with its sweeping curves and pretty plants, some of which I had not known before.
I can hardly wait for spring when they will all bloom. Thank you! Thank you!”

I am pleased to recommend the landscape architecture services of Michael D. Polikoff. I worked with Michael for several years beginning in 1995 when he was the principal landscape architect used by Rinconada Hills Association.
Rinconada Hills comprises 107 acres with 394 Townhouses and 40 single-family homes. The community was developed from 1968 to 1981, and offers the special challenges of a mature landscape. The landscaped areas include, turf, shrubs, ground cover, annual flowers, and natural areas including two lakes. In addition, there is an extensive automatic irrigation system which serves these areas.
Michael’s challenge was to develop and assist in the implementation of a long-range plan for the replanting of the landscaped areas with Rinconada Hills. This included developing community standards, general design objectives, and specific working drawings. Naturally, all of this work had to be completed within established budget guidelines.
I know I speak for the Landscape Committee and the Board of Directors of Rinconada Hills Association in stating that we are very pleased with the results of Michael’s efforts. He was able to easily identify the problems that needed correction and offer attractive, cost efficient solutions. Therefore, I would recommend Michael to anyone in need of the comprehensive landscape architecture service that he provides.”
